We will cover the basics of what it does and how it works, as well as dispelling myths about what it can and can't do. We'll walk you through the setup of a new project and implementing some basic functionlity.

I am new to learning ROR and I see lots of discussions on IDE's, Is it recommended to use one and if so what would be a good choice for a someone just learning?
Some example I have seen are Vim, Netbeans and Redcar.
